gramscale ("we", "us", "our") operates the gramscale iOS application and this website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information about you when you use our services.
1. Information we collect
Account information. Sign-in is required before scanning. When you sign in with Apple (or optionally email), we receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier.
Scan images. Photos you submit are downscaled and stripped of EXIF/GPS data on your device, then sent to our servers for processing by a vision model. Images are not retained beyond what's needed to return the estimate.
Scan history. The identified object, category, material, estimated weight and dimension range, confidence, and estimate source (AI, LiDAR + material, or pending) for each scan are stored in your account so you can review them later.
On-device sensor data. ARKit/LiDAR depth data used for dimension and volume capture is processed entirely on your device and is not uploaded; only the resulting measurements (e.g. a volume in cm³) may be sent with a scan.
Preferences. Your unit preferences (grams/ounces/pounds/carats, millimeters/centimeters/meters/inches/feet) are stored to personalise your experience.
Subscription data. We receive subscription status events from RevenueCat (our payments processor) to determine whether your subscription is active.
Usage analytics. We may collect anonymised usage data (e.g. which features are used most) to improve the app.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and improve the gramscale service.
- To generate weight and dimension estimates using third-party vision-model APIs.
- To manage your subscription and verify access.
- To store your scan history and preferences.
- To respond to support requests.
3. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate gramscale:
- OpenAI (GPT-4o) and Google (Gemini Flash): vision-model weight and material estimation. Downscaled scan images are transmitted to whichever provider is active for your request.
- Supabase: database and authentication hosting.
- RevenueCat: subscription and payment management.
4. Data retention
Scan history is retained until you delete it or close your account. You can delete individual scans from the History screen in the app. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at privacy@gramscale.skknexus.com.
5. Children
gramscale is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
